As the year draws to a close, I am laboring on two projects. One is the Love Un-Entwined that was shared in the last post. The 4 quarters are now joined, and the center stitched down. There is still plenty do on this applique intensive project and I have selected fabrics and cut out motifs for the areas between the vases.

But now I must return to my work on the Queen’ Garden King Size project. Sewing long stretches of border is not quite a fun as applique work, but needs must. The borders are now all added and the 103″ x 96″ project pin basted.

Because QG is so big, I already did intensive quilting around the applique motifs with just a layer of batting underneath before the borders were added. And then I cut around the batting for a trapunto effect on the finished piece (hopefully). I will do outlining of the applique motifs and SID (stitch in the ditch) in the center section with the batting underneath the entire quilt.

Quilting QG and finishing the LE top should fill the month of January, and perhaps a bit beyond.
Over at the Fun With Free Motion FB group, Sandra has asked the admins to do this pattern with her in the new year and I have already pulled scraps for this paper piecing project.

Oh yes! I neglected to post mini BOM project over the holidays. It is currently on our dining table. A nice winter tableau in alternate winter colors.

Happy Quilting!

Hi Lennea! Gosh, the Zoolights sure look pretty. In what city did you see the lights? We had several options around us – they were all to be viewed by car. It certainly ensures social distancing that way! Great projects you’ve got going and that elephant looks gorgeous. I really look forward to seeing that in progress. Thanks for linking up and Happy New Year. ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Roseanne! After all the separation of the year, at least we got our Zoolights visit. It is in Point Defiance Park (the second largest park within a city in the US!) in Tacoma, WA. There are 3 of us doing the elephant together, so that will add to the fun!
