Time for a little clear out of an old project. There were some sample squares made when testing fabric for a large quilt and I hated to throw them out. Solution? Trim down to 5″ and make mug rugs! These had been lying around for months, quilted but waiting for binding. And now they are done.
On my Fun With Free Motion Quilting FB group, I shared a Quilter’s Digest post showing a very attractive table topper. But they were using a specialty 60 degree cutting ruler. Could I make the table topper using my regular ruler? Why yes, yes I could. I like it so much that I plan to make a few more to switch out on my table from time to time. Teal is the accent color in my kitchen, so I grabbed some batiks from stash and made this.

Originally, I was dismissive of mug rugs, but a friend sent me a couple and I am a mug rug convert.
