Wrapt in Love

Time to start Esther Aliu’s newest free BOM, Wrapt in Love. This will be my 4th Esther project.

Burgundy and gold, with hints of teal. It bounced around in my head for weeks. I knew this would be my new color pallete for Esther’s new design long before the release. Aided by a local quilt shop going out of business, I stocked up on batiks and searched for a good background print. After seeing Esther use grunge dots in her new Hold Onto Your Heart design, I haunted the Moda Grunge selection in search of a background with gold tones. The Creme Vanilla, a white grunge with gold dots was the perfect choice. And then I waited for the BOM to be released.

Two backgrounds! The new BOM required two backgrounds, so off to shop for a contrasting, but coordinating grunge dot and was rewarded by finding Manilla. A gold/tan background, with soft brown dots, Manilla coordinates beautifully.

As I worked, it came to me that this would be a great quilt for a grand daughter who turns 11 this year. (Each of my grand kids get a baby quilt, a twin size quilt when they are 5, and then a new quilt at 10 or 11. And each will get another for their 16th birthday that they can helps design.) I printed the pattern at 75% to reduce the width of the finished quilt.

Two blocks complete! Looking forward to the next one!

See you all next time!
