Now that holiday sewing is done, it’s time to return to my very first applique project, Queen’s Garden, designed by Esther Aliu. I decided to quilt the center section and then add on wide borders in a quilt-as-you-go style to make the center quilting a bit easier.
My husband surprised me with a quilt suspension system for Christmas, which has been a big help! I outline quilted with MonoPoly and then did echoing and McTavishing in the main blocks with So Fine thread. Sashing was done using Fantastico variegated thread in a leafy feather design. The Center is complete, and I hope to have the borders finished next week.
